The Amazing Race returns tonight (at 8PM on CBS) for its 12th race around the world. If you’ve been reading this blog for any amount of time, you probably know that TAR is my favorite reality show. I understand why a lot of people don’t like reality shows but there’s a reason this show continually wins the Emmy for Best Reality Series.
CBS was nice enough to put together a little primer for you in case you’ve never watched and it’s a pretty good summary of how the show works and what you can expect. However, maybe I can persuade you to watch by giving you a glimpse at some of the reasons I love the show. So, here’s a collection of some of my favorite TAR memories and why I can’t wait for the start of a brand new Race tonight:
Colin’s infamous, “My ox is BROKEN!”
Season 9, one of my favorites, in less than 2 minutes:
Rob & Amber’s Amazing Comeback:
Oswald & Danny, covered in coal, chase Phil:
And, finally, Phil, Phil, Phil:
Ultimately, what draws me to this show is that you get to see a lot of great places around the world while watching some fun competition. Sure, sometimes the melodrama is a bit much but, with 11 teams, there’s usually enough of a selection that you can find at least one pair to like. So, give it a try and see if you end up liking it as much as I do. And, if you’re looking for a place to discuss the show, join us over at TVCH for general chit chat and game talk.

Whoo hoo for the Amazing Race. The first nondancing reality show I watched due mostly to Rae’s enthusiasm. And I loved it.
This year we get BROKEN DONKEYS! Yes.
Until the pack gets whittled down a little the show is a little boring, but I am happy with the eliminated team and HOLY CRAP did that bike on the tight rope thing look awesome!
