If I hadn’t already enjoyed last night’s How I Met Your Mother, that ending would have made the show for me. You see, I used to watch Doogie Howser, MD and I have been waiting for this show to come through with a Doogie reference for me. I never dreamed they’d go as far to give us NPH re-enacting the journal entry endings! The only way it could be better is if we found out that the entire reason Barney even has a blog is because they’ve been planning to do this all along! Ha.

Of course, if you didn’t watch Doogie, you probably don’t realize just how great that last scene was. The second season of the show is up on Hulu so I grabbed one of the endings to give you an entire of how perfectly they re-created it. Obviously the music is the theme rather than the music they used on the show but check out how NPH echoes his own younger Doogie facial ticks and head movements:

Heh. I love that he’s so willing to poke fun at himself.
