She Said, She Said… We’re So Lost

Discussing Something Nice Back Home (4-10)

Rae: This week wasn’t as awesome as last week for me but it was still pretty great. Plus, there was a LOT to take in. It took me a little while to figure out the timing of these flash forwards. One of the first things I wrote down in my notes was a question about whether we were seeing a moment before or after the trial. So glad they answered that later. So, if I have it right, this week’s flash forwards happen after the other flash forwards we’ve seen this year but BEFORE the flash forwards we got in last season’s finale, right? That makes me even more curious about Jack’s comments about getting the subscription from his Dad and how he went from working at the clinic to being back at the hospital. Can you tell me if we saw where he was working in the flash forwards during the trial?

Just Jody: I didn’t think it was as great as last week either. It’s still the best thing I saw all week though. I find Jack’s beard and drinking are pretty good indicators of where he is in the future. The worse off he is with the drinking, the further in the future he is. CC/DL have stated that Jack’s comments about his father are meant to show how far along Jack’s alcoholism is, and that it’s apparently a common trait of alcoholics to confuse time and believe dead ones are still alive. Hmm, I’m not sure what you mean about Jack working at a clinic? As far as I know he’s only worked at the hospital… am I missing something? We didn’t see him at work during the trial episode, but he did say he had to get back to the hospital when refusing Kate’s invite to see Aaron

R: Anyway, I was also going to bring up the scar issue… I actually went back and re-watched the beginning last night because I didn’t notice a scar the first time and, with them making a point of showing where Juliet cut into him AND her sewing him back up again, I felt like they would have made the scar more obvious. I still couldn’t quite tell on my TV but, when I watched the part of the show online this morning, I finally saw it. So I guess that scraps any questions I had about how he didn’t have a scar! Also, so much for his sickness being the reason he leaves the island. Dammit, it seemed like a good theory!

JJ: Ha-ha. I was laughing about that when they revealed that it was his appendix… Clearly we wrong in our thinking that Jack would have the sickness, and that would lead to more information about Rousseau. Bummer. I’m glad it was something so straight forward though. I don’t know if I’m up for the whole new bag of questions that would come along with him getting ‘the sickness’

R: I do like Rose’s wondering if the reason Jack got sick is because it’s the island trying to stop them from leaving. I guess if you don’t have Locke in an episode someone needs to take his place, eh? Of course, I’m not sure it actually makes sense since the island’s clearly not perfect on the healing thing. If it were, why would we have the issue with mother’s who get pregnant there dying? I actually have to wonder if there’s another reason if the island doesn’t affect Jack the same way. Maybe related to his father and his father’s relationship to the island? Hmmm

JJ: Yeah, I think Rose might be on to something there. The island isn’t really clear on the healing thing, but it seems to be pretty consistent on healing the people that don’t want to leave? It took a really long time to heal Ben, and he leaves whenever he wants. Locke gets healed instantly every time, and he never wants to leave. Shannon didn’t get healed and she wanted off the island badly. I don’t know if that’s it exactly, but I think it might have something to do with it? As for Jack’s case, I’m not sure if the island can actually make people sick too? I’m really enjoying seeing more of Bernard in these last few episodes, it looks like he might be an interesting character after all. And them developing his character a bit has finally got me to stop seeing him as Holland Manners on an island. I keep waiting for him to reveal that he’s the one working for the big bad that’s running the show. ;

R: But enough of that sickness talk! What’d you think? Knowing where your shipper feelings lie, I suspect you probably enjoyed it, huh?

JJ: Ah yes, the shipper part of me was very happy! Suck it Skaters! I totally kid… clearly Sawyer is still very much a factor in their relationship even if he’s in another world. And sadly, my Jate joy was tainted because we already know they don’t live happily ever after. When Jack first walked in the bathroom, I could have sworn the voice we heard from the shower was Juliet’s, and I was crushed. Which is odd, because I actually expected the 2 doctors would end up together in the future. But when it was Kate who stuck her head out I was so excited that I actually clapped!

But back to the episode… I’m so happy that they finally clarified that Kate is definitely NOT Aaron’s real mother, and I’m giddy at the fact that Jack seems to be aware that he is related to him. “Your son? You’re not even related to him.” And that brings me to Christian showing up for Claire too!! So far he’s only appeared to Jack, unless you count when Hurley saw him in Jacob’s rocking chair. Can Myles see him because of his ability to talk to the dead, or is he visible to whoever he chooses?? I’ve also been having nagging doubts about Claire… could she actually be dead? It seems she saw Charlie after the explosion, we know she saw her dad last night, and Myles - who sees the dead - seems to have a new interest in her, and now she’s vanished and left Aaron? None of this quite adds up I know, but I feel like there’s something going on there.

I think the female doctor that we saw in Jack’s flash-forwards, is going to be a Dharma/Widmore employee of some sorts. She seemed to show up both times to stop Jack from having contact with his Dad.

And of course we’re left with more questions… the biggest being WHAT happened to Claire? And WHY would she leave Aaron?? I’m also pretty curious as to what the favour was that Kate was doing for Sawyer? And WHO was she talking to on the phone?
