Friday Fun: Battle of the Sidekicks Print

Friday Fun! It’s the third friday in August! Where the heck has 2008 been going so quickly? Is there a party the year is late for? Yeesh. Anyway, another friday some more fun. This time with sidekicks.

I’m sure I’m not alone in wondering how two of my favorite protagonists would fare against each other but now I want you to think about their sidekicks. Magnum’s down for the count… can Rick hold his own in a smackdown? I’ve randomly paired eight sidekicks below for battle against each other. You tell me which sidekick would be victorious and why.

Battle #1: The Fray-Adjacent Battle
*Xander (Buffy)*	vs	*Sokka (Avatar)*
Battle #2: The Back at the Office Battle
*Gus (Psych)*	vs	*Morgan (Chuck)*
Battle #3: Makes My Hair Stand Up Battle
*Ando (Heroes)*	vs	*Sock (Reaper)*
Battle #4: Manning the Controls Battle
*Marshall (Alias)*	vs	*Wash (Firefly)*

Ok, your turn. Gimme a sidekick battle and I’ll tell you who I think would win.

#1. Sokka would totally win. While they’re both known for their clever wordplay, only Sokka is known for actually coming up clever plans. Plus, boomerang.

#2. Gus. Because Morgan is basically useless.

#3. Sock. Ando may have more gumption and perhaps even actual skills, but whatever Sock has up his sleeve, Ando’d never see it coming.

#4. Marshall. Gadgets.

1 - Sokka. Sokka’s got the fighting skillz. Xander usually needs to be rescued. But I’d much rather see them have a punning competition. I have no idea who’d win that!

2 - I’m gonna go with Gus even though I don’t watch Psych. Morgan is an accident waiting to happen, and I think Gus is a smart guy.

3 - Ando. No wait Sock. Ando’s probably smarter, but Sock is dirty and without scrouples.

Marshall - He’s way smarter than Wash, and could build something to take down the ship which is Wash’s only tool of defence. Unless you count Zoe? (’Cuz she’d stomp them both down!)

1. See now… I’m just not so sure on the Sokka vs Xander thing. I see where you’re both coming from and I think I’d agree if we’re talking about S1-4 Xander. Maybe even S5. But S6 and S7? I think that Xander could take on Sokka no problem. His tools vs Sokka’s boomerang? No comp!

2. Agree about Gus taking Morgan. After I paired them I realized it probably wasn’t a fair fight… what about Gus VS Ando? That was a pairing where I wasn’t sure who’d win.

3. I’d go with Sock as well just for his go get ‘em attitude alone. He’d do pretty much anything he’d need to to win.

4. Now, see, I think this is actually a closer fight than either of you do! Marshall definitely has more gadgets but I think Wash has probably been in more actual fights than Marshall. Of course I think they’d both end up drinking in a bar somewhere telling each other about the loves of their lives.
