Especially vexing for me tonight is the lack of a second TV. It’s tiny so it’s good for checking the weather and watching the last five minutes of something from bed but not exactly conducive to enjoying an entire episode of television. Granted, I’m totally to blame. I sold my other two TVs last month with the intention of replacing them with a new, relatively small, flat screen. I need my TV to take up a lot less space in my bedroom. Space is a serious commodity, people! Even for a TV whore like me.

ANYWAY. I still have my second DVR so it’s not like I can’t record the shows but I know it’ll take me forever to watch anything on the second DVR. So I’m faced with an impossible choice tonight. I like to watch The Office and then Supernatural on Thursday nights. It’s my usual routine. BUT. BUT. I also like to watch Fringe in HD because the visuals on that show definitely enhance the experience.

Factoring into my decision is the fact that The Office is always available online the next day. Of course, so is Fringe. And last year I did watch Fringe online more than I watched it any other way. Do I just continue with that course of action? Decisions, decisions.

I know you guys don’t care about my DVR woes. And we all know this ramble-y post is just an excuse to remind that… It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia is back tonight!!

I think it’s pretty funny. Next week is hilarious but tonight’s got several good laughs. Dee comes up with a scheme that, quite frankly, I’m surprised it’s taken her this long to hit upon. Don’t miss it!

Aside from being annoyed that I have to juggle recordings, I’m most excited about the return of Supernatural, The Office, and America’s Best Dance Crew tonight! Oh, and The Beast, starring Patrick Swayze, starts on A&E at 10PM as well. It’s pretty good, I recommend giving it a looksie and seeing if it’s your type of show.

Supernatural @ 9PM on The CW:
Man, I’ve missed the Winchester boys something crazy over the past month. This has been an outstanding season so far and I can not wait for it to continue. Plus this first episode back was written by Jeremy Carver and, as we all know, he’s one of my favorite Supernatural writers. I got two preview clips for this episode last Friday but was off enjoying Disney with my family and didn’t get them posted. Sorry about that! However, Ducky has ‘em up over at his blog so jump over there and check ‘em out. Tell me that first clip doesn’t freak you out? Can’t wait to see the whole thing tonight!

The Office @ 9M* on NBC:
While I’m not overly excited about this season of the show, it’s still one of few shows on my schedule I actually look forward to each week. I care about the characters on this show and I’m happy to finally be getting back into their lives. And it looks like the storyline I’ve been having problems with may be coming to a close soon. Yeehaw to that! Check out a preview of tonight’s episode, “The Duel,” online at NBC.com.

* Note: Not sure if NBC’s entire schedule will behind by 15 minutes due to the President’s address or not but, if it is, that may mean The Office may start a little later than usual.

America’s Best Dance Crew @ 10PM on MTV:
Yes! My reality dance competition of choice is back and I’m way too excited to meet this new set of crews! It’s almost sad how much love I have for this show. I guess when I’m not getting other people’s obsession with American Idol I should remember how invested I get in these crews, huh? Anyway. It’s back tonight and I’m dancing in my seat just thinking about it.

The Beast @ 10PM on A&E:
This is Patrick Swayze’s new show and I have to wonder how many people will check it out just to see how Patrick looks? Honestly, if I didn’t know he was sick, I’m not sure I’d be able to tell. Sure he’s not the guy he was in Dirty Dancing but, geez, who would be? He is, however, quite awesome with the acting. Travis Fimmel? Not so much. Some WB fans may remember him from the ill-fated Tarzan… where he also wasn’t all that awesome with the acting. Anyway, beyond that, I actually thought this was a pretty good show. I haven’t decided yet if it’s something I’ll keep watching but I enjoyed the first and second episodes and will give it a few more before I make a final decision. If your 10PM schedule isn’t too crowded, I suggest checking it out and seeing if it’s to your liking. You may be pleasantly surprised.

So that’s my list of “excited about” shows for tonight. Which shows are on your list?

Anyway, some quick thoughts, mmm’kay?

First up, I’d like to congratulate Dave and Stacy for winning the signed Val Emmich “Little Daggers” CD & Poster giveaways! Both of them were for their families as were many of the others who entered the contest. I’m not gonna lie, it was lovely reading what people were thankful for over the past week. A nice way to fill up my inbox. I’m grateful to you all for entering and, if you didn’t win this giveaway, don’t forget to enter to win an ABC Family 25 Days of Christmas Prize Pack. Heroes: If I’m honest? At this point I’m mostly watching the show for non-show related reasons. Because I no longer give it my full attention when it’s on and I’m not even the slightest bit interested in trying to figure out what’s going on… I’m not going to hate on it because, well, I don’t hate it. I feel like a lot of the people who are ragging on it are letting their emotions color their opinions. Not that it’s been good lately, I just don’t think it’s as god-awful as everyone else is claiming. But I digress. My reasons for watching seem to be (1) in case it gets good again I don’t want to be so far behind that I can’t watch (see Lost circa Season 2), (2) Jody still likes it and I want to love it again like she does, (3) I like Greg Grunberg and Brea Grant on Twitter and want to support their show as a consequence, and (4) Bryan Fuller will be returning. Good reasons to keep watching? I dunno. I just know the show alone would have lost me several weeks ago so I hope it starts to get better and quick. I’m not sure how long those extra factors will keep me tuning in with Mondays being so crowded.

Chuck: This week’s Chuck was enjoyable but not nearly as good as the rest of the episodes this season. I wanted more of the Awesomes (though I admit this is because of the actors playing them, not because I really care about them as characters). I’ve seen a lot of people suggesting the Buy More story could have been dropped but I don’t agree. It was the most entertaining part of the episode in my opinion. Ultimately, it felt like they stuffed way too stories into one episode. It may have served all of the stories a little better if they had been spread out among other episodes. I’m savoring these last few episodes, though, before the long break we’re going to have when the show disappears for the month of January. Can I just say, NBC, you should try re-running Chuck… I think it’d do better than you think. It’s the one show this season I’ve consistently watched multiple times.

Samantha Who: Yeah, I think I’m calling it quits on this one. I’ll still check it out when everything thing else is on break but I haven’t been enjoying it nearly as much this season as last and my Mondays are full enough that I don’t need keep up with a show that’s lost my interest. In all fairness to Samantha, I’m not that much of a sitcom fan and my schedule is suddenly full of them so I suspect I’ve just reached my saturation point. I’ll catch it in reruns. Y’all let me know if it suddenly gets great again.

The Office: I like this show so much better when it’s about the stuff going on in the office. Not that people’s relationships don’t affect the people you work with – they often, especially when you’re dating someone you work with – but lately there’s been too much of a focus on those. I want to get back to office politics. Hence why I really liked last week’s sub-plot about the dirty microwave (an issue in my office as well) and this week’s story about the budget surplus. That said, I didn’t find this week’s episode nearly as funny as some others because I’ve had enough of the Angela/Andy/Dwight triangle. It’s gone on for too long and it’s made me despise Angela. She wasn’t all that likable in the first place but now she’s toying with both guys and the show seems way too dismissive of the whole thing. I know it’s a sitcom so naturally the storyline needs to be played for laughs but I’d like to see someone take it seriously.

Grey’s Anatomy: I don’t begrudge anyone their opinions but, at this point, I feel like it’s just become popular to hate on Grey’s and Shondra. I didn’t see anything in this last week’s episode to warrant sudden flood of “OMG, hate it!!” posts everywhere. Perhaps it’s because I’m not disliking the current storylines as much as everyone else but I actually felt like this episode was an improvement over the past few weeks. In large part because they finally revealed that no one else can really see Denny. As much as I think they’ve dragged this particular storyline out too long (or, more aptly, they didn’t use Denny sparingly enough) and it was the imaginary sex that really pushed the limits of what we were all willing to believe, people finally noticing that something’s up with Izzie means that it’s not going to last that much longer and it’s not likely to turn out that Denny really is a ghost. So, yeah, not sure what exactly in this episode enraged so many people. I’d understand more if the uproar was about the portrayal of Asperger’s syndrome. I don’t know anyone with AS but I’ve seen enough complaints to get that the show isn’t doing a bang up job of representing it. However, that’s always more of a footnote in the whinging I’ve seen.

Still Loving: Privileged, Fringe, Life, and The Mentalist. Don’t have much to say about them at the moment however. I’ve also really enjoyed the last several Boston Legal episodes. It’s amazing what they let David E. Kelley get away with… though I hope he’s not as bitter about the show coming to an end as the show’s commentary would lead one to believe. Because it’s definitely time. I will miss the breaking of the fourth wall, though. Not that there’s really much of a fourth wall left what with the way they’ve been tearing it down lately.

What else? After a sad leg on The Amazing Race, I’m not nearly as excited about the end of the race as I was a week ago. I really kind of fell in love with Toni and Dallas and I’m seriously bummed one major mistake ended the race for them. I’m also not loving this season’s Top Chef as much as everyone else but I suspect that’ll change once a few more contestants go home.

Pretty certain I had other things to say but it’s taken me several days to write this as it is! I should wrap it up or I fear it’ll never get posted. How’s TV for you?

For those of you who were asking me about the cost of the Best Buy and Target exclusive versions of Supernatural, here’s some info that may help in your buying decisions. First I should note that neither Target or Best Buy ONLY had the exclusive versions available. I’m sure that’ll change once the sale on the exclusive version goes away but you may want to check elsewhere if you don’t want to pay any extra for the exclusive stuff. That said, the Best Buy price (with the mini Metallicar) is currently $39.99 while the Target price (with the locker calendar) is $37.99:

You can’t really see this from those photos but, in the Orlando area (these were the Waterford Plaza stores), there were plenty of DVDs available. The mini/locker calendar found in the Target sets is actually inside the DVD box so there was no way to give you an idea what it looks like. You can sorta see the mini Metallicar in the photo above but, since I know people were debating whether they wanted it or not, here are some photos to give you an idea of its size:

Of course, popping over to Target to check out the prices there was a serious mistake. I saw those sale prices and totally caved. Of the four DVD sets that came out today, I was only going to buy one and ended up getting all of them. This addiction I have is out of control! For the record, Best Buy’s lowest price on The Office S4 is $32.99 whereas Target has it for $29.99. (Exclusives: Best Buy’s Fun Run set is $42.99, Target Deluxe set is $36.99, and Target S1-S4 package is $99.99) Oh and Best Buy’s lowest price on Big Bang Theory is $24.99 while it’s $22.99 at Target.

So, in other words, I had a very expensive lunch today.

Ugly Betty
Instead of killing Charlie by slicing her head open and taking her secret powers, Betty tries to win her over by hosting a baby shower. She goes to ridiculous lengths to make it “just right” for the very picky mommy to be, but Charlie continues to be a biotch right up until her water breaks. And when the Betty is born—in the Suarez living room—Betty can no longer pretend that she is the most important person in Henry’s life. It’s pretty heartbreaking even for those of us on the Betty/Gio bandwagon. In other news, Hilda gets her groove back. When she goes into Justin’s school to give his gym teacher a piece of her mind she ends up going all gooey for him. I don’t have any insider info, but I’m pretty sure we haven’t seen the last hottie Coach Diaz. Too bad for Hilda/Daniel shippers! Speaking of Daniel, he went to a therapist to deal with the attempt on his life/messy breakup but he ended up boinking his therapist. Oops! Somehow that did the trick though and at the end of the episode he was back at Mode and back on point. And oh yeah, Christina found out she’s carrying a dead man’s heir and confronted Wilhelmina who in turn announces to Daniel, Alexis, and Claire that she is having Bradford’s baby and her child is entitled to one-third of the Meade empire. Just another day in the fashion magazine business… - Spads

Smallville
Lex consults an expert about the cryptograph he obtained from the Veritas security deposit box in Zurich. He’s then attacked by the Zurich bank officer and has the Kryptonian symbols for traveler, savior and sanctuary carved into his chest. Chloe deciphers the message and sends Clark to a church in Montreal where he finds the last surviving member of Veritas, Edward Teague. Teague is not pleased about Clark’s non-committal nature towards destroying Lex, whom Teague deems pure evil, and he decides that he must kill Clark to protect humanity. Meanwhile, Lex also finds his way to the church and finds a key inside a clock after applying the cryptograph to it. Teague discovers him, there’s a struggle, and Lex is just about to kill him but Clark saves him, after just being rescued by Chloe himself. Lex takes the key back to the castle in Smallville, where he finds the last remaining artifact to control Clark, a multi-sided spherical object. When Lex inserts the key into the sphere, it shows him the location of the fortress of solitude. - G

Grey’s Anatomy
Without even stepping foot in Seattle Grace, Dr. Preston Burke creates chaos among the lady heart surgeons. After an announcement is posted in the hospital that Burke has won a prestigious medical award, Christina and Hahn finally have something in common… or so Hahn thinks. But for Christina it’s the last straw, and she spends the episode alone and hurt. Let’s hope this marks the return of strong and snarky Yang. Meredith is still in therapy, and all she can talk about is wanting Derek. But he’s with Rose. And he was really ‘with’ Rose this week… but all he could think about was Meredith. Sloan’s slutty ways finally caught up with him, when the nurses teamed up to boycott his surgeries. Depressed and lost, he sulks until Miranda takes pity on him and convinces the nurses to get back to work. Izzy and Alex fight over Rebecca and her pregnancy, but Izzy keeps her patients’ confidence and doesn’t tell Alex that he’s not going to be a daddy. The chief gets a visit from his wife. - JJ

The Office
Michael, Pam, Oscar and Darryl represent Dunder Mifflin at a job fair at Pam’s alma mater, where Pam is surprised to find out that she needs Photoshop experience to be a graphic artist (duh!). Jim tries to schmooze a potential client by golfing with him. Dwight is left in charge of the office and everyone leaves early except Angela. - G

Supernatural 1/2
Dean and Sam are still searching for the solution to their problems when, along the way, they run into a case of someone stealing people’s vital organs. It turns out it’s a doctor who, back in 1816, seems to have found the secret to eternal life. Sam, thinking the doctor might be able to help them with Dean’s problem, wants to talk to the guy while Dean is having none of it. When Dean gets a call from Bobby with the address of someone who knows where Bela is, he wants to head out right away. Sam resists and the two part ways. Dean meets with an old hunter and wins him over. The hunter shares some disturbing news about the real Bela and Dean confronts her about the Colt. Unfortunately, she’s already sold it and Dean realizes that there’s more going on than Bela wants to admit. Meanwhile, Sam’s found the doctor’s cabin in the woods but he gets himself captured in the process. Dean shows up in the nick of time and the two take down the doctor but not before Sam wants to question him. Dean, angry, tells Sam that he knows what he faces but saving himself is not worth sacrificing his beliefs. Later that night, Bela shows up to murder the two while they’re asleep but Dean’s two steps ahead of her. When he calls, she admits that she was doing it for Lilith who holds her soul and, if she didn’t murder the two by midnight, the hellhounds would come for her. As she lets Dean know that it’s Lilith who holds his soul as well, we hear the hounds in the distance. - R

Lost
Locke, Ben and Hurley continue their hunt for Jacob’s cabin, until finally Locke has a dream that points them in the right direction. This prompts Ben to make a sad face and tell Locke that “I used to have dreams”. Locke’s dream leads them to a map, and the map leads them to the cabin. While Ben and Hurley wait outside and share a snack, Locke – as the new chosen one – goes inside the cabin to talk to… Christian Sheppard and Claire! Jack’s daddy tells John that Aaron is where he’s supposed to be, Claire being there is a secret, and oh yeah – they have to MOVE THE ISLAND!! Meanwhile over on the freighter, Keamy catches the island crazy and shoots the captain. But not before he slits the doctors throat and tosses him overboard… it seems he really was alive and well on the boat after he washed up dead on the beach. Unbeknownst to Keamy, Sayid steals the dinghy and heads back the beach to help his friends. IN THE PAST: Locke was a preemie, born to a 15 yr. old girl named Emily. Emily isn’t ready to have a baby, so little John is given up for adoption. As a young boy John is visited by the mysteriously un-aging Richard Alpert, who gives him a test and asks him to pick items that will belong to him. Locke fails the tests and Richard leaves in a huff. Then in high school, Locke is recruited for a science camp at Mittelos Bioscience – the same company that recruited Juliet to the island – but he politely declines the offer. Later in life, he receives another visit, this time from Matthew Abbadon who sets him on the path to his Walkabout. It seems the moral of our story this week is that John Locke has a deep connection to the island. – JJ

Ugly Betty
Wilhelmina’s plan to drive Renee over the edge is working, unfortunately for Betty who has become the focus Renee’s jealous rage. As Betty tries to figure out if Daniel might be in danger, Renee’s busy convincing him that Betty loves him. But when she rushes to his rescue, it’s Betty who falls into Renee’s firey trap. Luckily she manages to get through to Renee and puts out the fire just as Daniel arrives to save her. Meanwhile, Henry’s punching Gio because Betty’s been lying about their friendship and Hilda’s trying to outdo Gina when she returns to flaunt her new husband in Hilda’s face. - R

The Office
The entire office can’t stop staring when Pam forgets her contact solution and is forced to wear her glasses the entire day. Then, when Stanley loses his patience and snaps at Michael during another of his meetings, Toby insists that Michael deal with the situation. Michael decides to pretend he’s firing Stanley to teach him a less but, when that doesn’t work, he’s forced to have a real talk with Stanley. After letting Stanley have his say, Michael accepts that Stanley doesn’t respect him but warns him that he is the boss and can’t let Stanley talk to him that way. Stanley agrees and they shake on it. Meanwhile, Dwight barters with Andy to buy his car for cheap only to turn around and sell it for more money via E-bay. Oh, and Toby and Ryan surprise Jim with a poor performance review. - R

Supernatural
When an entire town of people keep claiming to be recieving calls from dead loved ones and then killing themselves, Sam and Dean decide to investigate. But when Dean gets a call from their Dad upset with him for having sold his soul and claiming he can help, he believes it’s really him. When Sam’s doubtful and sugggests they call Ruby instead, Dean lashes out and tells Sam the truth, that Ruby can’t save him. Sam, still worried, asks Dean not to listen to the voice on the phone until he’s had time to do a little more digging. Frustrated and wanting to believe it’s John with help, Dean doesn’t wait and Sam has to save him once he realizes it’s actually a Crocatta who uses the phone lines to communicate. Back at the hotel, Dean finally admits that he’s scared. - R

Grey’s Anatomy
Addison returns! And reminds me why I don’t like LA Addison. She also reminds all the other doctors who they’re supposed to be. Meanwhile, Mer and Der get their hopes up only to loose their first patient in the clinical trial. Rebecca/Ava shows up and informs Alex that much to his displeasure, he’s going to be a daddy. But Izzy is Ava’s doctor and the test results say there is no baby? Callie takes McSteamy home to prove to Hahn that she’s not down with the ladies. - JJ

30 Rock 1/2
It’s Sandwich Day! The Teamsters treat the staff with succulent sandwiches from a super secret location. After stealing Liz’s sandwich while she’s off with Floyd, the writers are forced to take on the Teamsters in a drinking contest in order to get her another one. Things look bad for the TGS team until Kenneth realizes that shots are just “hill people milk”, and he saves the day. Banished to the 12th floor, Jack sulks and hides for most of the episode. - JJ

Lost
It was a happy day for all the Jack & Kate shippers… or at least it started out that way. Jack, Kate and Aaron are one big happy family in the future. For a little while. Then Hurley shares some crazy with Jack in the form of a message from Charlie (”You’re not supposed to raise him Jack”), and things start to go downhill. After a few visits from his dead father, the good doctor begins his downward spiral into the crazy and obsessed man we glimpsed at the end of season 3. Kate assists in his decline by doing secret favours for Sawyer and keeping it from Jack. Back on the island: (and back in time) Jack has appendicitis and Juliet has to perform emergency island surgery to save him. Jin discovers that Charlotte speaks Korean and uses this info. along with threats against Daniel to secure a spot for Sun on the helicopter. Smoky seems to have spit the commando men out, because they’re making their way across the jungle to find the helicopter. Claire is woken in the middle of the night by her dead father, who happens to be holding her baby… they walk off together into the night, and in the morning Sawyer finds Aaron abandoned in the jungle, but no Claire. - JJ
